🧑🏼🚀 Five Link Friday #5
Are experts real?, Big ICE vs EVs, Historical facts to remember, Udemy unbundled and Bloomberg's scrappy start.
Hi Friends 👋🏼
Happy Friday! This week, I’m gonna keep the preamble short. Realised i’ve been taking too long to finish part 2 of my “deep dive into digital payments” (you can read part 1 here), and gonna spend more time this weekend to get it done. Fingers crossed its gonna be ready by Tuesday! Oh and i’m trying out a new format too. Please shout at me if you hate it.
Anyways, don’t miss out on my Long Form Deep Dives and also my “best links from the week, curated for you” Five Link Fridays by subscribing here 👇🏽!
I really appreciate it.
Now, let’s get to it!

🔋 Long read: In software startup world, folks love to ask “What if Google comes into the space?”. It’s the same in the Electric Car Industry, but just change Google to Volkswagen. In this case however, now we have the answer.
👨🏻🏫 The “question everything you believe in” read: Are the so-called experts really experts ? Or Are they just appealing to credentials or using the moat of academic prestige to blind us from their flaws and incompetence?
Status is sticky. The moat of academic prestige is unassailable and has little to do with the quality of the research.
📜 Quick read: Be like Milan. Milan notes down historical facts he tends to forget. Now you can benefit from them too.
📚 Deep Dive: Just like Craigslist, Reddit, Banks and everything else, the great unbundling is coming/has come for Udemy and its ilk. Greg Isenberg talks about the evolution of online learning and where it’s heading.
📈 Twitter thread to read: A throwback to how Bloomberg clawed its way into the offices of the largest clients in the world. Great thread.
Loved this quote from Bloomberg himself:
“To publish one price and then negotiate secretly with those you want to favor... that just encourages dissent, uncertainty, and unpleasantness”
