🧑🏼🚀 Five Link Friday #1
Merry Christmas! + 5 links you won't find elsewhere on the internet that will keep you intellectually stimulated this Christmas weekend.
Hi Friends 👋🏼
It’s already Friday here in Singapore so, Merry Christmas to everyone! And thanks for taking a couple mins out of your Christmas to scroll through this post.
You’re probably asking asking yourself:
What is Five Link Friday?
I like to think i’m like the Dyson V11 vacuum cleaner of content on the internet and during my consumption, I come across a lot of knowledge sources and obscure pieces of content that most people don’t usually get to consume. So I thought that it would be helpful for folks reading my writing to curate the best 5 pieces of content (be it video, audio, product or person) that I have consumed / purchased during the week and just share it with ya’ll.

Five Link Friday #1
Prediction Machines by Ajay Agrawal, Joshua fans and Avi Goldfarb
Before you go like “Ugh, another book about AI 🙄”, this book masterfully tackles the topic from a unique perspective, through the lens of economics. It gives you a very simple framework of how to think about AI, how to predict where it might go in the future and how it might affect human labor. The different uses for Bitcoin - Linda Xie
With Bitcoin’s recent run-up past its previous highs and the flood of institutional capital pouring into the asset class, i’m sure many people have questions regarding some of the bitcoin basics, what its used for and how its used. Especially if you did not participate in the 2016-2018 “fun” times (good memories 🥲) . This 4-min read won’t answer all that but it should let you understand why people want to own Bitcoin at a basic level and how its used.50 Ideas That Changed My Life - David Perell
David Perell is probably one of the best writers out there today and produces content at a ridiculous pace. This post served as an eye-opener for me of how a few simple basic rules can greatly affect how you think about the world.Bill Gates and Rashida Jones Ask Big Questions - Episode 02: Is Inequality Inevitable?
Honestly, beyond this episode, listen to all their pods. The chemistry between the 2 hosts with vastly different life experiences really makes for good audio. The 2nd Episode with Raj Chetty was especially intriguing. Raj is a Harvard economist who has been doing meticulous research on economic mobility in the US and how different factors affect someone’s ability to move up the income ladder. Like how being born just a mile away from where you were born could change the entire trajectory of your life 🤯.Some of the best ads of 2020
Every year, it gets more fashionable to hate on digital advertising. But I have to say that recently, some companies have put ridiculous amounts of money into high quality production and ensuring the viewer gets value from the ad (Masterclass anyone?) and / or making sure the ad promotes certain values or social causes (e.g: Nike). Some of these ads meet those criterion while some are just plain fun. Enjoy.
